On May 10, thousands of Chicago-area residents will pull up a chair at gatherings to discuss the future of our communities while sharing a meal together. Environmentalist of Color, in partnership with Chicago Community Trust and Faith in Place, will be one of thousands of groups across the Chicago region hosting similar events where community residents from all ages and backgrounds will come together to put real issues and solutions “on the table” and share their commitments to helping shape our collective future.
As multi-faceted environmental challenges to regional resilience continue to become more complex, our neighborhoods must work together to find solutions. To make headway, consistent inter-community collaboration can be a driving force for a more unified region. But what does that kind of deepened engagement look like in a historically segregated city? How do we apply lessons from the past to make positive impacts in economy, environment and equity for the future? Your voice is critical to this exploratory conversation, for charting pathways to a more equitable and inclusive region. We hope you are able to join us for the conversation, and for the networking portion to follow.
This event is a partnership between the Chicago Community Trust, Environmentalists of Color and Faith in Place, generously hosted by the Field Museum.
